Rob Richmond, Literacy Achieves Volunteer Teacher

For the last 11 years, Rob Richmond has taught adult students as a volunteer at the ELM campus. He believes Literacy Achieves offers these students the chance for empowerment and independence.

“It’s immediately apparent how appreciative the students are. They are so eager to learn English and excited to be in the classroom together. For me the best part about teaching is this personal experience and the strong connections that form between students and teachers,” Rob said.

Rob enjoys using examples from both his and the students’ lives in the classroom.

“Having the students share a part of their lives with me makes the experience very meaningful, and that is what continues to inspires me to teach,” Rob said.

Meet DJ Kassanoff

“I am amazed at everything that students receive at Literacy Achieves. The children can attend school at the same time as their parents … and the families receive referrals for many services they need.”
